Creating a Lasting Legacy
For more than 15 years, husband and wife Don Carunchio and the late Camille Carunchio, stood in the stands donning blue and green, cheering on the University of West Florida Argonaut athletics teams. While neither are UWF alumni, they formed relationships with the UWF athletics staff and the student-athletes, whom they watched grow over the years.
After his wife's passing in May 2014, Don created an endowment in her name for the UWF women's soccer team as well as an endowment in his own name for the UWF women's basketball team.
"I wanted to create an endowment for soccer in her name, as it brought her so much happiness," he says. "Since I enjoy watching basketball and seeing the students excel off the court as well, I wanted to go ahead and create an endowment in my name to give the student-athletes that opportunity now."
Every year, UWF alumni and friends use estate giving and planned giving for the University to strengthen their community and enhance the lives of young people. Giving to UWF allows you to make a lasting impact and take advantage of financial planning opportunities.
After creating two endowments, Don continues to be an avid fan in the stands at all Argonaut athletics games. With his newly found dedication to the student-athletes' educational success and achievements, he decided to make a legacy gift that will continue to enhance UWF Athletics' mission and the success of its student-athletes, not only on the field but also in the classroom.
Don and Camille were able to leave a legacy that impacts UWF student-athletes for years to come. What legacy will you leave?
